In the glass we find a golden yellow color. On the nose we find stone fruit aromas, sweet citrus aromas, herbs, dried flowers, followed by mineral notes. In the mouth it is full, with high acidity, a hint of tannins and a long aftertaste.
On the border of Macedonia and Thrace in northern Greece vigneron Nerantzi Mitropoulos has made it his life’s mission to explore and express the indigenous varieties of his home country. Working organically and with all indigenous yeasts, each wine is a pure expression of its variety and the region. Assyrtiko, well-established as a grape by the island of Santorini, has the potential to expand outside the region. Nerantzi has planted it on primarily calcareous sandy-loam which has given it this beautiful texture and weight.
